The mission of the TMA Garden
The mission of the TMA Garden Project is to provide a living outdoor classroom where students can apply math, science and nutrition skills learned in traditional classes to improve subject matter understanding. The project includes several different programs that are managed by 15 parent volunteers.
TMA GARDEN IS A LIVING GROWING OUTDOOR CLASSROOM
Our one-third acre TMA Organic Garden Education Center boasts: 22 beds, orchard, hot and vermicomposting, 15,000 gallon student designed water reclamation system, monthly Farmer's Market, nutrition/meal planning education, teamwork and public speaking opportunities, therapeutic touch and smell garden, certified monarch waystation, California native butterfly garden, and dynamic outdoor classroom space used outside of garden specific activities.
BE A PART OF THE TMA COMMUNITY
The garden is open once a month to the community for volunteering opportunities, hosts and donates excess produce to the Orange County Rescue Mission - a local homeless shelter. TMA’s Organic Garden and Nature Center gives our TMA students a once in a lifetime experience to empower our children to participate in building, planting, maintaining and harvesting a garden. The garden allows a hands-on experience that keeps our children connected and in touch with our living environment.
